本研究は、使用済み紙おむつを微生物培養に再利用し、トリコデルマ属菌などの拮抗微生物を用いた資材開発を通じて、土壌病害の抑制と農業生産性の向上を図るものである。従来の炭化・燃料化と異なり、微生物による資材化は未開拓であり、セルロース資源の高付加価値化が期待される。今後は土壌科学やマテリアル科学などと連携し、メタゲノム解析による微生物―土壌の相互作用解明や、企業との共同研究を通じた実用化を目指す。
