本研究は、中国の歴史地区を研究対象として、現地調査、文献・図面の照合・分析、地理情報技術を用いた関連データの収集・分析を通じて、西街区の保存と持続的発展のために、より信頼性の高い分析結果を提供するものである。同時に、開発と保全、開発効果評価モデルを通じて、その開発効果を評価する。以上の手法により、西街区歴史地区の問題点を明らかにし、解決策を提案することを目的とする。
