2024~ K²-SPRING 未来創造コース採用学生

Compulsory Subjects

  • 1 Fusion-of-intelligence A
Post your research and your own issues on the MIRAI-SDGs platform and have an interdisciplinary brainstorming

In the Future-Creation (MIRAI) Course, students will engage in free, challenging, and interdisciplinary research beyond the framework of their affiliations and specialties, enhance their abilities, develop an interdisciplinary and bird’s-eye view, and build a cross-disciplinary platform “MIRAI-SDGs” as a “place of emergence” to create new interdisciplinary research issues.

    (1) MIRAI-SDGs

Doctoral students will select and register SDGs issue(s) related to their research theme. In this way, a cross-disciplinary link of course students will be created in each SDGs matrix. Next, (1) the contents of research themes and (2) issues to be solved by the integration of disciplines using the MIRAI-SDGs platform will be presented in Japanese and English summaries and 3min videos, which will be shared with course students, course collaborating faculty members, URA and corporate consortium members using online tools. In the MIRAI-SDGs platform, each student’s information is grouped by SDGs issue category to form a virtual research area that transcends organizational affiliations.

    (2) Cross-Disciplinary Discussion

The course students supported by this project, who cross the border to learn and discover issues in different fields, will watch summaries and 3min videos of other students to learn about research themes and fields of study in different fields of specialization, and will ask questions and have developmental discussions using online communication tool such as Slack, provided by the course. Each student will send questions via Slack to students who select the same SDGs issues as themselves, students with different SDGs issues, and students with whom they wish to communicate with a view to conducting joint research. The students will then submit a report on common issues and new challenges they have discovered through questions, exchanges of opinions, and discussions, as well as on possible solutions and joint research. In order to engage in cross-disciplinary discussions with students in fields other than one’s own, it is necessary to first acquire basic knowledge in the field, which will lead to the cultivation of an interdisciplinary and bird’s-eye view of the field. The course collaborating faculty members and URA also participate in this exchange of opinions and play the role of mentors to encourage students and find the seeds of interdisciplinary exchange within the course.

    (3) Constructive Communication and Emergence of Fusion Research

As the next step, students will make a more detailed presentation of their research submitted to the MIRAI-SDGs platform in a poster format. Students and faculty members will discuss “why the issue is important” in real time, and brainstorm to generate fusion knowledge to solve the problem. The faculty members actively participate in the online discussion and poster session, and serve as mentors to communicate with and encourage doctoral students from other graduate schools. This will create opportunities for connections between students in other fields and between students and faculty members, and for the emergence of cross-disciplinary collaborative research.

    (4) Career Development

In order to learn from the field of social issues and connect with society, we invite members of the corporate consortium (institute director class, human resources staff, etc.) and alumni of the University who are active in various fields to the MIRAI-SDGs platform and Slack. By viewing the student summaries and watching the 3min videos, members of the corporate consortium will be able to learn about the connection between the SDGs and cutting-edge issues in various academic fields at Kyushu University, as well as confirm the potential of doctoral course students and identify outstanding talent. In addition, individual or group networks will be established between corporate consortium members and presenting students, and to have dialogue and socialize between doctoral students and business people. This will allow course students to gain a perspective on social issues from the field, and if the interests of both parties coincide, it is expected that this will lead to the formation of career paths and the search for possible collaborations such as laboratory tours, internships, and joint research. Using the contents of “MIRAI-SDGs,” we hope that people in and outside Kyushu University (industry) will see and evaluate the potential of Kyushu University’s doctoral human resources. Furthermore, we hope this will lead to the expansion of career paths in the industry and society.

The student will also need to raise the issue of unresolved critical issues then prepare and present a research proposal to solve the problem and the expected results of the research.
In proposing and solving problems, students are encouraged to work from an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspective based on the knowledge, understanding, and methodologies of different fields acquired in the “Fusion-of-intelligence Courses”.

  • 6 AI Co-Pilot Boundary Crossing
Using AI to connect to Integrated Research Project and AI Research Proposals

Ph.D.students for today are required to conduct interdisciplinary collaborative research. On the other hand, it is very difficult to break out of one’s own field of expertise and carry out interdisciplinary collaborative research. Therefore, this subject is designed to serve as a bridge to subjects such as “Integrated Reserach Project” (an elective subject for K2-SPRING students) and “AI Research Proposal” (a required subject for K-BOOST students). Students will also refer to the results of AI analysis of research information (keywords, interests, etc.) to meet potential collaborators and discover and develop interdisciplinary research projects of academic and social significance. It is highly expected that this subject will function as a “resonance place” where students from the two doctoral support programs, K²-SPRING and K-BOOST, can meet.
