Call for the 6th Kyushu U 3MT Competition

The application guidelines for the 3MT have been released.
By participating in the 3MT, you will be certified for the International Network C, an elective subjects (there are no conditions such as remaining a finalist or winning a prize).

This is one of the few elective subjects that can be completed in English without the need for Japanese.

Dear PhD/Doctoral students,

The International Affairs Department has informed us about the 6th Kyushu U 3MT Competition for PhD/Doctoral Students.
This is an international competition in which you give a three-minute presentation of your research in English, using only one slide. It aims to hone your academic research, presentation, and research communication skills. It also requires you to explain your research in a way that can be understood by a non-specialist audience, so that more people can learn about your research.

Date: Monday, July 27, 2026 14:15 – 16:00
Eligibility: Students enrolled in the doctoral program at Kyushu University (3rd-5th year for Integrated Doctoral Course)
Applicants must agree to having the video published on YouTube (unlisted) for the People’s Choice review.
Application deadline: Friday, June 5, 2026
Prizes (Research grants and certificates are awarded):
1st prize: 300,000 JPY (research grant)
2nd Prize: 200,000 JPY (research grant)
Public vote: 100,000 JPY (research grant)
Briefing Session: Tuesday, May 12, 2026, 12:10-13:00
