In Fukuoka, together with Saga, Nagasaki and Yamaguchi, has organized the Executive Committee of the Japan-Korea Strait Coastal Prefecture-City-District Exchange Project and is currently implementing various exchange projects with the South Korean South Coast region based on the agreement of the ‘Japan-Korea Strait Coastal Prefecture-City-District Exchange Governors’ Meeting*’.
As part of this exchange program, the ‘Green Growth Strategy Japan-Korea Student Conference Project’ will be implemented in August 2024.
In this project, university students and others from eight prefectures, cities and provinces of Japan and South Korea will cooperate to study the environmental and energy policies of the two countries, raise interest in environmental and energy policies through group work and training, learn about the history and culture of the two countries and deepen mutual understanding to develop human resources who will take responsibility for the future of Japan-Korea relations.
*Japan-Korea Strait Coastal Governors’ Meeting
The heads of eight municipalities along the Japan-Korea Strait (Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Yamaguchi, Busan, Jeollanam-do, Gyeongsangnam-do and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province) meet to discuss common issues, etc. Various joint exchange projects are being developed by the eight municipalities.
