これまでの研究は、突然変異が生じる現象だけに注目してきたため、ゲノム進化過程の一面しかとらえていない。本研究では、個人に新たに生じた突然変異を同定し、変異の遺伝様式及び発生期間の推定を行い、ゲノム領域と変異の関連を明らかにすることで、新たに生じた変異が集団内に固定されていく遺伝的メカニズムの解明を試みた。
