Delayed deposit to Japan Post Bank accounts of non-residents (international students who have been in Japan for less than six months)

Effective May 6, 2022, Japan Post Bank has changed its handling of domestic remittances. When we send money to the accounts of non-residents (international students who have been in Japan for less than six months), it takes time for Japan Post Bank to respond to inquiries about the purpose of the money transfer, etc., and for the bank to confirm and process the payment. As a result, there is a possibility that the money will arrive at the receiver’s account a few business days later than the scheduled payment date.

When you have fulfilled the requirements for resident status, such as having been in Japan for six months, please be sure to request a change in your account settings at the bank counter. After changing your account settings, the deposit to your account will not be delayed.
